PRACTICING DESIGN:


In accordance with the results of the empirical research on the lack of knowledge and skills in both current design educational curricula and the creative business sector the project countries Austria, Croatia and Macedonia have created a concept of recommendations for training units that is taylored to the individual demands of each country. This concept was developed at the 1st Conference in Skopje and is being used as a foundation for the 4 Training Workshopsdesignaustria developed a training workshop programme that fits the specific needs of young design professionals in Austria. The national results have shown that young designers seek to feel confident in the economical and the legal daily pratice of (creative) entrepreneurs, regardless if they are self-employed or employed in larger companies. Within the proposed set of training courses participating teams will round up the entire process from the initial research till the final testing of the product on the real market. Proposed workshops will serve to produce effective and easily applicable training material, which can serve Design Education institutions and Design Sector institutions to increase vocational skills.

The first Training Workshop, held on July 20 2016, provided practical information, examples of best and worst cases that young design practitioners help at the beginning of their careers. Topics were general contract provisions, competition rules, copyrights, customer acqusition advise, essential indicators for businesses and many others.
